Hi everyone,
I’ve been using Shotcut to edit gameplay videos for a community project, and I’m trying to improve the way I highlight difficult sections of a level.
I’d like the camera to smoothly zoom in and follow the gameplay during certain moments, then zoom back out afterward. I’ve been experimenting with the Size, Position & Rotate filter and adding keyframes, but because the gameplay moves so quickly, the motion often feels a bit jerky or ends up slightly out of sync with what’s happening on screen.
At the moment my workflow is:
-
Record gameplay at 1080p60.
-
Trim the clips.
-
Add the Size, Position & Rotate filter.
-
Create keyframes for zooming in and out during important sections.
The effect works, but it’s difficult to keep the movement looking smooth when several quick jumps happen within a few seconds. I also find myself constantly adjusting individual keyframes to get the timing right.
I’m curious how other people approach this.
Do you usually create lots of small keyframes to closely follow the action, or is it better to use fewer keyframes and keep the camera movement more subtle?
If there are any Shotcut techniques or workflows that make this process easier, I’d really appreciate hearing them.
Thanks!
