Best settings for HQ Youtube with WAV audio

Hey guys,

Hope everyone is well.

I’m new to using Shotcut. Great programme so far!

I produce music and have made a video with a static image to accompany this on Youtube. I’m having a bit of trouble finding the correct export settings.

I’m looking to export the video at 1080p with uncompressed Wav audio. The audio is super important for me. Obviously I can’t use WAV with the recommend MP4 for Youtube. Does anyone have any suggestion for the correct settings to use?

Thank you!

Here is what YouTube requires for uploads.

There are other platforms to publish videos on, but I have no idea what they require as video format. A lot of the music I find on YouTube, they usually have a SoundCloud page linked in the description.

From the defaults or the YouTube preset, go into Advanced and change:

  • Format = mov or matroska
  • Audio > Codec = pcm_s16le
Save your file with a .mov or .mkv filename extension if using matroska. This video file will play in any decent third party media player if not the one supplied with your OS.
