Hi everyone,
I am currently working on a sci-fi project using Shotcut’s Subtitle: Burn-In filter. By using a stylized “alien” font (like Echolot), I can create fantastic animated alien heads-up displays that sync perfectly with the subtitle dialogue. Stacking multiple instances of the “Subtitle: Burn in” filter lets me create some amazing dual-text animated effects! I love it!
However, I am hitting a limitation regarding how text wraps, and I would love to propose a feature request to improve multi-line text handling for Subtitle.
Multi-Line Text Wrapping Options
Right now, formatting text into multiple lines within this filter can be restrictive. I would love to see one of these two potential solutions added:

Option A (Auto-Wrap based on Bounding Box): When scaling or squeezing the subtitle bounding box with the “Font size” option checked, it would be incredible if the text automatically wrapped words down to a new line whenever the horizontal box width becomes too narrow.

Option B (Forced Max Lines): Alternatively, a dropdown menu or numerical selector (e.g., 1 to 15) inside the filter panel to force the text into a specific number of lines.
(As a side question: is there any way the standard Text: Simple filter (or the other Text filter) could eventually pull text data directly from an active subtitle track?)
I completely understand if this is a niche request for specific creative workflows, but automatic text wrapping option would open up massive possibilities for advanced text layouts and HUD designs directly within Shotcut.
