Auto Strobe Effect

Is there a method or even a filter that creates an automatic Strobe/Flicker effect.
What I wish to achieve is one film clip cuts in and out every 10 frames revealing a second clip underneath. I have done this manually by cutting the top clip every 10 frames and then deleting every other 10 frame section.
This is great but very time consuming as I need to do this for a whole 2 minute video.
Is there an automatic way of achieving this ?
Thank you in advance for any help

No, sorry, the engine includes it but not yet in Shotcut UI. We can convert this to a suggestion.

I don’t remember seeing this effect anywhere. Can you post your video here? I’m curious to see what happened. Is this used in any famous music videos? Why exactly this interval?

For the next release, I have added an “Alpha Strobe” filter. This filter will turn on/off the alpha at the specified interval. When the alpha is on, the image will be transparent and the track below will show through.

The interval parameter is keyframable - so it can be varied over time.

This sounds useful - thanks, @brian. I envisage it could be used for flashing text?

Film editors who use this filter should be aware that about 1 in 2000 people suffers from photosensitive epilepsy (when seizures are triggered by certain rates of flashing lights or contrasting light and dark patterns), especially children and young adults. I had a friend who suffered from this.

Thank you @brian
This is definitely a filter I will use from time to time.

Yep!

Thanks @Brian. This useful filter will, in some cases, eliminate the tedious keyframes of the Opacity filter.

Merci @Brian. Ce filtre utile va, dans certains cas, éviter les images clés fastidieuses du filtre Opacité.

I still think it is necessary to copy key frames rather than create such filters.
