Audio export Issue

Hi, I am a new user, using v26.6.25, and loving the program, but when I export the project there is no audio. it plays fine on the timeline (its just a background music track) but nothing in the export file. The video plays perfectly in the export.

The audio is an mp3, fltp format and 44.1k sample rate.

I’ve tried setting the export sample rate to 44.1k and I’ve also tried using the preset youtube export without changing anything but still nothing.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Make a super simple test:

  1. Start or restart Shotcut
  2. Open the MP3 file
  3. Go to Export but do not click on anything
  4. Click Export File
  5. When it is done, double-click the export job row in the Jobs panel. That opens it in the Shotcut player.

Do you hear it inside Shotcut? If so, now try it in whatever player you were using before.

If there is still no audio, upload that test MP4 to here in a reply.

If the test MP4 plays OK, but not the exported project (including testing playing in Shotcut) upload your project file without the media in a reply here.

OK Dan I did all that and it played fine in Shotcut but still nothing in VLC player. Here’s the test mp4.

Maybe you’ve checked Disable audio by mistake in the Audio tab of the Export panel?

It plays fine in Shotcut and the web browser. You have a broken VLC. Try another player. Open a browser tab and drop it in there.

OK my apologies Dan. There is some issue with VLC player that I cannot resolve. I get no sound from any mp4. I played the export on Windows media player & it plays fine.
