Add clip length for Generator content in a track where it makes sense

When I use Generator content (e.g. a colour), it has a default length of (IIRC) of 4s in the track. However, in the Properties no length is shown and hence not adjustable via numeric input. I have to use the mouse to extend the length of the colour, noise, whatever.

It would be useful to give the generated track content its own and adjustable length properties.

Use case: I want to overlay a longer clip in the timeline with a colour and then use one of the blend modes to reach the desired result. I know the length of the clip, so the easiest way to make the two match would be to copy and insert the length of the clip into a properties entry for the colour or at least read the numbers and type them in. Alas, that isn’t possible, as far as I can see, even if I add the colour to the playlist.

This may not make sense for all Generator content, but for colour and noise it certainly does.

No timeline clip in Shotcut has direct numeric length input. However, for a color clip (and others based on it), you do:

  1. Open (in Source player), not Add To Timeline
  2. Click in the timecode field Ctrl+T and enter a new value
  3. Defocus the timecode field using Tab , Shift+Esc , or clicking the player video area
  4. Press O to set an out point

Now, you can add it to Playlist or Timeline with that duration.
