Add audio waveform visualization on a video track without sound

Can you make it so that the Audio waveform visualization can work on video tracks that don’t have sound like in Kdenlive? I love the effect in Shotcut so much but it’s very inconvenient that I have to export a video to add Audio waveform visualization then export it again.

You can make it work by adding the filter to the Output track. And if that is too limiting then do that in a nested project. The only thing I am willing to do here is make nesting projects more convenient. I am not going to complicate the code to workaround this.

Or we could just do everything that Kdenlive does by building it and rebranding it as Shotcut. And give us the source code to Davinci Resolve too. Then, we can add a Shotcut “page” inside it :winking_face_with_tongue:

will you add the option to change the angle of the visualization?

I do not understand the problem. Put the audio clip needing visualization on a video track. If the visualization needs to go on top of other video, simply add another video track for it. If the audio clip has album art, set Properties > Video > Track to None.

After you add the Audio Waveform Visualization, you can add other filters to rotate or distort it. For example, Size Position & Rotate to rotate it in a flat manner, Corner Pin to create an isometric perspective, or 360: Equirectangular to Stereographic to make it circular.

In case you need a visualization for more than one track mixed together, create a new project and drop the main project onto a video track as a virtual clip. Then, you can filter that.
