A user interface question

Hi there,

When I am in the main Shotcut interface, I can select and add and subtract any function window just fine…both from a clean layout or the default layout or any custom layout I want.

But when I try to greatly resize a window like lifting up the Timeline to fill half the screen or enlarge the Source window to fill a large portion of the screen , the window won’t resize as much as I would like. It is like the window goes to a slightly larger size and then won’t budge any further. Almost like it is locked in some parameter.

When I watch tutorial videos the windows are being resized to almost any size in the layout. So I am a bit perplexed as to why I don’t seem to be able to do the same.

  1. Is there a lock / unlock function I am missing?.. Or some other trick to resizing?

Thank you,

JB

Please do not indent your paragraphs. That makes the message display poorly in the forum. I had to edit two of your posts to fix that. Thank you.

View > Show Title Bars is the closest thing there is to something like that, but it mainly just hides the float and close buttons. Maybe you need to try harder to look for the dividers between the panels. I think they are easiest to see on the Fusion Dark theme.

There are minimum sizes on some of the panels. Try again after closing Filters and Export. You might need to experiment with the placement of some of these panels including floating them and only opening them as needed to make something work for you and your desktop. We have already provided flexible UI customization, scroll bars, and decent default layouts. The rest is up to you.
