Nice little demo there sauron. I use animation ALOT in my work so I’m going to experiment with the new keyframes this afternoon. In their current form they likely won’t do everything I need, but they should save me plenty of work and speed up my workflow immensely.

Thank you.

Users ought to focus on what Shotcut can do instead of complaining about what it can’t do. It’s free open source evolving software. If you can’t do something with Shotcut do it with something else. There are plenty of video editing applications out there.
Shotcut can do plenty. @elusien and @jonray have demonstrated what can be done. The exploding text effect impressed the Lightworks forum, and they are not easily impressed.

Good point sauron - and thanks for your comments about my HTML work. I’ll be experimenting with Elusien’s new webvfx framework when I get a chance. And also the keyframes…

Also thanks for your demo video. looks great! Jon

One final demo of what can be done with keyframes.

Looking good sauron.

I didn’t get the opportunity to experiment on Saturday as I’d hoped and got my first chance this afternoon. The clip below is an excerpt from what I did today (it’s part of a video about retail promotions I’m working on) all animated using the Size & Position filter within Shotcut. All the text and image elements (except the explosion) were generated in a (very) old vector gfx editor and input to Shotcut as PNGs. As I hoped, now I’ve got the hang of it, the keyframe features are going to save me a great deal of time. Hopefully rotation will be added later to the list of filters that can be animated and I’ll be on easy street

Thanks Devs - you’ve made Shotcut massively more viable for this particular happy user.

Excellent. Nice use of the “Pull Focus” effect. Makes me want to buy whatever you’re selling.

Keyframes are working so well, had to make one final final demo.
