I am a university professor and administrator. I have always dabbled in image and video editing, but the pandemic stepped up the need to find an editor that could fill both my needs in producing content for remote classes, and the needs of students. Shotcut to the rescue! It has been a marvelous tool, and I am grateful to the developers for making it available.
