Unable to add image to video

I add an image to the playlist, create a video track and drag it to the beginning there but it doesn’t stay there and I can’t drag it from its random position on the timeline to the beginning where I want it.

I am not sure what you are doing and what is going wrong, but:

1. click the existing image clip on the timeline to select it
2. choose Edit > Cut from the menu or timeline toolbar
3. move the play head to where you want the image to start
4. choose Edit > Paste from the menu or the timeline toolbar
