Trouble when splitting clips

I am running version 22.12.21. When I split a clip, the preview window shows a thumbnail from somewhere to the right of the split instead of displaying what can be seen at the current position of the marker. When I export the clip, it plays back the same way. The clip will start with the picture rather than the correct position in the video.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Your source video is not seeking properly and must be converted using Properties > Convert.
