Trakax vs shotcut reg. mp4 filesize

Hello, if I compare trakax (unfortunately nomore available) with shotcut regarding export of mp4 video/audio with the same settings (h264/aac) I find the shotcut file double size. Anyone out there who can explain why? Thanks a lot.

Define “Same settings” ?

Thanks for responding. Well, every setting in common that the two programs provide, Video: H264 with same framesize, frames/s etc. and Audio: AAC with same bitrate.

Same observation if I compare encoding results with Hybrid!

both hybrid and shotcut uses ffmpeg so there is just some diff default settings

I know that but which ones ? :angry:

encode one in hybrid and one in shotcut and post the mediainfo?

Attached mediainfo results of each one. Export Shotcut was done by adding these parameters in

First observation: modifying “Quality” value in Codec tab only changes crf parameter value.
50% -> crf 26
55% -> crf 24
57% -> crf 23
60% -> crf 20

60% -> crf 21
the newest version–shotcut-win32-180102 changed it

Thanks for the info. Anyway, Hybrid is better to get smaller file with same quality.
