Hello,
In order to save space on the screen, I disabled the toolbar display. But the commands, open, open other, save, cancel … are still very practical.
As there is still enough space on the right of the timeline-specific commands, I suggest you can create an option to put the commands of the toolbar here.
In the mean time … tear your hand off the mouse 
and use the keyboard!
Function : Windows / MacOS
Open: Ctrl+O / Cmd+O
Open other: Ctrl+Shift+O / Cmd+Shift+O
Save: Ctrl+S / Cmd+S
Cancel: Esc / Esc
etc…
Also take a look on the menus’ right side, there are written all the keboard shortcuts…
