Strange interaction "Text Simple" filter with "Cropped" Images

Hello guys, I have been using Shotcut for two years but this interaction always baffled me, I come here to ask you if you have any solution, here is a video for reference

I simply want to add text to the image on the V2 track that has been “Cropped” without losing the background.
Even though i checked the Transparent Box, any attempt of adding text to the V2 image resuilts in the background going dark.

Any tips?

2 options

  • Use the Crop: Rectangle filter instead, and set its background to transparent.
  • Don’t add the text to the video clip. Instead, add a Text clip (Open Other > Text) on a video track above this clip. Text clips are much more flexible in general.

I guess i’ll start using Text Clips, I have watched a bunch of tutorials and they seem to be the best option as you’ve said.
