Shotcut crashes entire laptop

When I open shotcut it takes a little longer now to open a recent project. When it finally opens after a couple of mouse clicks it freezes my ENTIRE COMPUTER. The mouse cursor is nowhere to be found. I can’t click on anything. Once I close my laptop for it to “sleep” I reopen and it comes on normally with cursor moving also. EXCEPT SHOTCUT HAS SHUTDOWN AND CLOSED. What do I do???
