I’m having a problem with Shotcut’s Speech-to-Text feature and I can’t figure out why it’s not working.
I’m using Shotcut 25.10.31 on Windows 10 Home 22H2 (build 19045). When I try to generate subtitles, the job does this:
-
“Extracting Audio” works fine
-
“Speech to Text” instantly shows failed
-
In the installation folder (**C:\Program Files\Shotcut\share**) there is no “models” folder — only applications, ffmpeg, icons, movit, translations, etc.
Things I already checked:
-
I’m 100% using the installed version (NOT the portable one)
-
Installed as Administrator
-
Reinstalled multiple times
-
Windows is fully updated
-
The issue happens with any video I try
Because the Speech menu is missing and no models folder exists, it seems like Whisper is not being installed or initialized, but I don’t know why.
Has anyone run into this problem or knows how to enable the Speech-to-Text engine in this version?
Thanks in advance.
