I have to select the folder location of my proxy files each time I start Shotcut (settings / proxy / storage / set). If I don’t, it is set to Use Project Folder (default?). Is there any way to make my location sticky?

The Use Project Folder stays checked after you set a new custom proxy folder.
You need to uncheck it first. Shotcut should remember the new folder on your next sessions.
