Currently, switching between multiple related projects (e.g., Part1.mlt, Part2.mlt) requires navigating to the Files panel, changing the dropdown to Current Project, and double-clicking. This is a multi-step process that breaks the creative flow, especially when moving assets or comparing timelines between different files.
I suggest implementing a Project Tab Bar or Quick-Switch Slots located directly above the Timeline or below the Player.
Key Functionality:
- Tabbed Interface: Just like a web browser (Chrome/Firefox), each open
.mltfile would have a tab. - Quick Shortcuts: Ability to use
Alt + Shift + Left/Rightto cycle through the open project tabs. - Project Slots: If full “Multi-Project” support is too heavy for the engine, provide 3-5 “Quick Load” slots where a user can pin an
.mltfile for one-click switching.
Easy Management: Right-click a tab to “Close Project” or “Pin to Bar.”
This would effectively simulate a “Multiple Timelines/Sequences” workflow. Many users break large projects into smaller, manageable .mlt files to keep the performance high. This feature would allow us to treat those separate files as a single cohesive project environment.
