Project Folder on Startup and export file location mismatch

V25.10.31 After working on and saving my first project and then starting another project in a different folder using the start screen project folder and filename concept; when I attempt to export this second project mp4 it opens my filemanager to the first project folder instead of the current project folder. Picture1 is when I first start the second project, picture2 is when I have added image to project, and picture3 is trying to export this mp4 file. It seems as if the project folder is not involved here. Why not? For those not using Linux, the picture3 black background is the selected folder.

Export does not default to the project folder; it has its own saved path in the config file to remember the last location you exported to. This is due to my workflow where I save completed videos somewhere different than the project folder.

I understand that this is your work flow point of view. Maybe we could have a config file option that establishes that all exports automatically go into a specific folder that we could name, such as the projects folder. That would sustain all of us that want all project related files in the same folder for archive reasons. I have discovered that I can use a playlist bin to point to my preferred source files for that project. But having to select an export file location for each different project export is distracting and can result in file location mistakes. This config file option would work for everybody regardless of their work flow.

Replying to my own question: I know understand that my config file suggestion will not work since it is not project specific. A project specific config file within the .mlt could be used to this effect.

FWIW, I routinely export to a different folder from where I build the project - most often a folder where I am accumulating videos over time, so the current behavior works well for me.

Ok

Understand your work flow. I can adapt. I usually do all editing file i/o in one folder and when the project is complete I just zip that folder and save it to an external drive for backup. I will just use the filemanager to ensure all i/o saves go to my project folder of choice.
