I’m sorry for being a PITA, but I have questions and suggestions regarding the noise generator.
First, it seems to me that there is a built-in time limit to the content (8m:55s). After that, I can’t expand it rightward with the mouse. Is there a reason for it? I stumbled upon this issue when I tried to apply the generated noise to create a wonderful effect for a ~20min video and a blend mode, and it became cumbersome, because I had to insert a new Generator at the point of the playhead (end of the previous one).
Second, are there any plans to add more options to the Noise Generator, like granularity etc.? The Noise: Fast filter has at least an “Amount” parameter, but since this filter creates coloured noise (in contrast to the b/w noise of the Generator) it’s not that useful to me. It also cannot be used like the Generator Noise with blend modes.
The noise generator has a maximum length of 15000 frames - which is a different duration of time depending on your Video Mode frame rate. I think we could make it bigger. Nobody has ever asked for that before.
The same comment goes for question about granularity. Nobody has asked for that before. So we don’t have any current plans.
Regarding the Noise: Fast filter, there might be a way to get where you want to be (although extra steps):
Add a color clip to the timeline with RGB colors 0x7F7F7F (127, 127, 127). This is a flat gray color clip.
Add the Noise: Fast filter
Add a Hue/Lightness/Saturation filter and reduce the saturation to zero to make it black and white
Thank you, brian. That’s a workaround. Wouldn’t it be easier for users to simply add a b/w switch in the Noise: Fast filter?
As regards granularity, I think this can be done on the user side by applying other filters (like Blur or even one of the denoise filters), so there’s no urgency here. Just another nice-to-have thingy.
