Sometimes when I open an MKV file in Shotcut the video doesn’t show, only the audio is there. It just shows a gray checkered screen. The file shows the video when I open it in VLC. I don’t know how to fix this. Any ideas?
That means the video compression/encoding used in that file is not supported. You should show the Properties. Where did you get Shotcut, and what is your OS? Maybe if you installed it from a Linux distribution they did not enable some decoders in their build of FFmpeg.
Thanks, when I checked the Properties tab the video track was automatically selected as “None” for some reason but when I selected the other available option the video appeared. Also I got Shotcut from the official website and I’m on Windows 10.
