Marking places to cut video then cutting video?

I load a 20-30 minute clip. I see a 2min 33 second beginning part that goes on for 7 minutes, this is the only part I wanna keep.

I have no idea whatsoever how to MARK the first part and MARK the ending part and then CROP that 7 minute section from the 20+ minute video.

Have mercy on me, how do I do it with this software and better yet how is it done in most other video editing software?

I’ve lost 10 IQ points over this ;-(

I don’t know why you need to mark the clip points instead of just applying a cut at the first point, then applying another cut at the second point and then deleting the stuff outside what you’ve cut.
