You don’t give any specs, but I’d say, download the latest version and use the Proxy and Preview Scaling features and see if you get a reasonable editing experience with that.

Yes, old or new version, I think that most of the minimum system requirements are the same.

But if you are using a 32-bit version of Windows, the last Shotcut version that supported 32-bit was 20.09.27
