Shouldn’t it be clip(val,16,235) for Y 16-235 ?

In theory, yes. In practice, ffmpeg doesn’t deliver the exact values you specify, so you have to fine tune the values you pass to it.

Works ok here. Perfect values when using uncompressed video. Lossy compression might cause artifacts, rounding errors

Also, ffmpeg doesn’t give you a hard clip. I haven’t figured out what’s going on with that.

Looks like hard clip to me . Lossy compression might give you slight variances
