Hi, the gods have stricken down upon me with great fury and hoary anger by having me edit a Jerusalema dance challenge video, and one video was of course shot smartphone style, vertical 1080w x 1920h, while the final video (the project) will be 1920*1080 horizontal.
I have managed to “import” the vertical video into the horizontal project, but now there’s of course ugly black borders/padding.
Is there any way to create that popular look where instead of the black padding the video is mirrored as part of the padding, using Shotcut?
There sure is. Look for the Blur: Pad filter.
I know what you mean but i think it wouldn’t make it much better. I would rather zoom a little in into the video, even risking to pixelate/blur it a little bit, but also leaving the borders where you need the whole image. You could occasionaly also change the black borders to something more fitting your content or even duplicate it to both sides and blur it a lot. Otherwise in my opinion it tends to distract the attention from the main part. In the best case of course you plan your movie better in front of the editing
More and more people are filming with their phones held vertically.
Shotcut is already ready, you can edit your project in portrait mode.
TV manufacturers have understood, we are starting to see on the market the first TVs that can be used in vertical mode.
Thats the solution! - Great find!
I always tell my daughter to hold the mobil horizontally when filming - completely useless…
