Lag even though shotcut is only using 20% of resources?

I got an I7, 1060 3gb and 16 gigs of ram and I am trying to edit a video for a school project.

Shotcut does not seem to be using many resources…

…Yet it lags really bad, so badly that I cannot drag track in my timeline because it’s impossible to know where the tack will end at what seems to be under 3 frames per second.

What can I do to ensure shortcut does not lag as much?

1. Ensure that you are running Shotcut version 20.10.31 (About > Shotcut)
2. Restart Shotcut
3. If that does not help reboot
4. If that does not help, try a different Display Method (Settings > Display Method)
5. If that does not help report back by including the application log (View > Application Log)
