How to quickly cut the last second

I am cutting a video with speach and I have to cut away a lot of filler words, silence etc.
My current workflow is:

  1. play the video until a filler word occured
  2. cut at the current position using S
  3. go back before the filler word with the mouse or by playing in reverse using J
  4. cut the part using X

Is there a better workflow for this kind of work?

You can skip back 1 second by pressing PageUP button. But I assume the length you need will vary so I think a better option would be to make the waveform very large (Ctrl++ or mousewheel) and visually guess where the cut must begin/end.

Instead of split and cut, you can do a single Ripple Trim In (shift + I)
