False failure warning issue. At the end of rendering

After upgrading Shotcut to version 22.01.30
Although the videos were rendered correctly at 99% of the process, a false failure warning is issued.
Is it possible to fix this?

Need some more help to know how to reproduce it because I am not experiencing it. That might mean you need to figure out it happens when using X in the project. Or you can wait until someone else figures out the trigger.

Just to make it clear. The video is 100% rendered correctly, but at the end of rendering at 99%, that error warning appears.

This problem seems to affect some people and not others. One person added more RAM and the problem went away. Another user switched to hardware encoding and it worked. Yet another user found that a specific filter was causing the error.

I hope we figure this out one day.

If you want to invest some time to try to help narrow the problem:

  1. Make a COPY of a project that fails
  2. Systematically remove one item at a time (a filter or transition) - each time export after one single subtraction and save the project file with a new name
  3. If the export succeeds after a subtraction, try to re-add the item - does it still fail? Post the before/after to this post so we can examine what might have been the problem.

The only thing I found that worked for me was downgrading Shotcut. There were no portions of the job that were causing it…I test this by simply adding an MP4 to the project and saving it with zero changes or additions. Basically a re-encode using the same settings as the original file. 99% then fail, although the new file was complete and usable.

The downgrade was my “fix”…no issues since that.

Has anyone else done the Shotcut update with the program open and because of that there was an interruption in the installation? Allow me to report this fact even though I don’t know if it could have anything to do with the problem.

I remember doing the update by clicking on the verification notice that appears near the timeline when Shotcut start. For this reason the program remained open during the update, so before the installation was finished, a warning appeared and the installation stopped. Unfortunately I don’t remember what the notice said. I just closed the program and the installation of the new version was completed. Could this be the reason for this “failure rendering warning” to appear?
