Exporting video size

Hello everyone.

Lately I’m making videos and I edit them with shotcut. I have it with profile of “High profile H264”, with 80% of quality and 200 in GOP. All the videos I’ve done, occupy less than 50% of their original weight, but the last video weighs exactly the same.

I do not understand why it does not reduce the size of the video correctly, could someone explain it?

80% means 20% compression.
Footage is decompressed into memory while open in Shotcut, then re-compressed when encoded/exported.
If the compression ratio selected for export is greater than the compression used for the original footage, then the exported version will have a smaller data size. You can follow the logic.

PS: Video has no mass therefore has no weight.
