Export video not showing options tab

Greetings

I had to get another laptop (used) from my previous that had SHOTCUT video editor

  1. Previously when I hit “export video” it would show options for the video to customize resolution, codecs, and “detect hardware”
  2. Now my newer laptop does NOT Have these options in shotcut? When you goto file > export> export video it does NOT show the options from #1 above. It simply goes to opening a “export window” where it asks what filenaem and directory to output the MP4 to.

How do I get the options from #1 to appear?

Click the Advanced button at the bottom of the Export panel.
And tick the Always start in Advanced mode box.

This box with options used to be available

But

With this new laptop and new install of Linux there is no more of this option window?

Perhaps it is in the preferences somewhere?

Maybe it is a problem similar to this one, reported a couple of days ago?

That is by design. It is not supposed to any longer. Some people want a very simple option. Other people want a keyboard shortcut straight to Export File without going through the panel. Try not to be so easily fooled by minor UI improvements when the solution is so simple: If you want the Export panel, then click the Export button in the main toolbar to reveal it.

OK I think I fixed it by:

  1. Going to top right “Export” button and it brings up the details as previously worked.

NEW PROBLEM:

  1. Not able to click "use hardware encoder’ as when I DO click it, it quickly unclicks itself. says “nothing found”
  2. COnfigure button pops up, but when I click “detect hardware” that configure window quickly closes.

Your hardware or its driver is not supported. Are you using the NVIDIA-made “nvidia” driver? nouveau open source driver does not support this.

THanks for reply

  1. Yes I am using the “recommended” driver set my Linux Mate.
  2. Should I switch to another driver and test it out?

I am using this driver in this screenshot

which one, do you know maybe? to try?

Then hardware encoding is not available on your GPU.

Yes

I installed flatpak shotcut

Yes, now it detects hardware encoders!
