Another quick way to make dotted lines.
Use a file with some sound on it (not playing), or the Audio Tone Generator (in Open Other).
If you want the dots to be longer just copy/paste the same filter a few times. I added color to each filter instance.
Preview at 100% zoom.

Ok, perhaps another cool way.
Can’t forget about dots.
For getting perfect circles, Grid offsets must be equal. This example is at 55% on both rows/columns.
Obviously these would have to masked/and or edited with a graphic editor to get just a single line.

I have another cool method!
Use COOl TEXT website
to generate a transparent PNG by typing in dashes and spaces.
Depending on what style you choose, it can give a fancy dashed line with gradient blurred edges.
