I would like to duplicate individual video / audio tracks in the timeline (copy and paste) and then edit them separately.
Unfortunately, for example, I cannot simply mark and copy an individual video track with all the clips it contains, paste it into the timeline as a new video track and then edit / change it.
My question:
Is there a solution for this task or have I overlooked something?
Are you just looking to isolate videos on one track and edit them as a separate video? It might be as simple as doing a Save As, then deleting the tracks you don’t need anymore. Then you have a 1-track timeline. Doing the same technique, you can do that and save as its own MLT file, then if you want to re-integrate the video into the original source, you can apply the new MLT file in its own track, similar to this technique:
thanks for your information.
But I would like to add an existing video track, that is, a video track that has been completely edited with different clips and filters, as a further video track in the timeline. In other editing programs this is a standard function. The playlist here wouldn’t help.

In addition, if you use several MLT files in this way, the individual settings in the individual MLT files, such as the filters, can unfortunately no longer be selected.
In the new timeline yes, but you can always keep going back to the source MLT file to make changes and you can always add new filters on the new timeline on top of the MLT file
