Converting from variable rate

When I load videos that were recorded on my phone, Shotcut always prompts me to convert the videos because they were recorded with variable frame rate. So I pick a quality, good/better/best, and it then prompts me to save the new file as a .mov file.

Is the file that is in preview window in Shotcut now converted? Or do I have to close out and reopen with the new converted .mov file?

When the job completes it will replace it In the player and timeline if it was already added. If unsure look at the file name shown at the top of Properties.
