Musical, could be the other softwares running and fighting for memory during export
Version (release candidate), the new outline filter uses an unreasonably high amount of CPU. Preview scaling does not improve the situation, as in this case the outline is displayed at the wrong size.
Thanks for this demonstration @dimadjdocent. And good point about Preview scaling blowing the thickness of the outline.
I also tried with only Shotcut running. Still unusable for me on my not very powerful computer.
The export speed is even worse.
1920x1080x30
10 second video.
Export speed.
Text + background = 1 sec.
Text (shadow) + background = 3 sec.
Text (outline) + background = 2 minutes 22 seconds.
According to the test results, this is the heaviest filter for the processor today, it is even heavier than Corner Pin, which I considered the heaviest until now, but the outline won the prize as the heaviest filter.
You all can stop reporting about it now. I made a 50% speed improvement (4 yr old AMD Ryzen 7 pro 5850u/Linux) and fixed preview scaling.
I just deleted a bunch of off-topic or stupid replies. Stop the nonsense, or I will keep deleting shit. This is not reddit or social media; it is a more formal support and education system.
Been using the latest beta to work on my newest video. I’ve got a style down for text which I really like, using the new outline filter and drop shadow filter.
However I won’t lie, it feels extremely messy requiring the text to be on an upper track all of the time instead of being able to use the text filter directly on the current video clip.
Is there any possibility of the outline filter and drop shadow filter being directly implemented into the simple text filter in the future?
No, sorry.
it feels extremely messy requiring the text to be on an upper track
I disagree.
You can add a filter called text:simple or text:rich to a video clip and it will still be displayed without taking up an extra track on top, but the text will depend on the length of the video clip on the track.
