Audio tracks priority in timeline

Hi guys,
I came across a problem for which I constructed the following example:
I have 2 video clips (V1, V2) and the corresponding audio tracks (A1, A2).
Both clips start at 0 in the timeline.
When playing, only the “higher” video V2 is displayed but BOTH audio tracks A1 and A2 are played. Why isn’t just the “higher” audio A2 belonging to V2 played?
This is just an example to explain the problem.
Thank you very much for your help.

All tracks are processed at the same time it’s just that for video if there’s no transparency, it will just be shown “above” the ones below it covering it. You can use many effects that change this.

For audio there’s no reason for one track to cover the one below it, when 2 people talk, you can always hear both of them even if you can’t see the one further behind.

You can manually do the effect you want either by cutting/removing the video from the track below or using the gain/volume filter to lower sound.

Hi Daniel,
thanks for the quick answer. I didn’t think it is a bug but I was wondering why it is like that.
Have a nice Sunday,
