Anytime I zoom with the timeline it freezes my computer

What is your operating system?

Windows 10 Pro

What is your Shotcut version (see Help > About Shotcut)? Is it 32-bit?

64 bit, Version 21.03.21

Can you repeat the problem? If so, what are the steps?
(Please be specific and use the names as seen in Shotcut, preferably English. Include a screenshot or screen recording if you can. Also, you can attach logs from either View > Application Log or right-click a job and choose View Log.)

Step 1: Open the program

Step 2: Zoom in with timeline

Step 4 |Optional|: Click on a click on the timeline, try to edit it. This will freeze the computer and stop me from being able to work on my project as a whole.

FAQ: Yes I have tried re-installing
Yes I have converted all the clips to “Editor friendly” and proxy/preview scaling are on

I really like this editor and I hope that this can be fixed soon!

lol I skipped step 3

It is a known problem that zooming the timeline is slow but not that it “freezes the computer.” Your screencast does not show it freezing the whole computer, does it? Also, it does not hang Shotcut indefinitely, but this operation does take a long time and is directly proportional to the duration of the timeline. A workaround for this is to disable the audio waveforms.

Sorry I should’ve specified.

It basically crashes shotcut.

“this operation does take a long time and is directly proportional to the duration of the timeline”
Ah I see that makes much more sense

Without audio wave form it works somewhat faster but it’s still very slow
