Adding Text: Preview not showing

Hi, I am trying to add text.
1.On standard text I get a box, but no preview. The text does not show on the clip.
2. On 3D text I do not get a preview box, and nothing appears to happen.

Please can you tell me if I am doing something wrong?

Is the track playhead at the position on the clip where the text filter is being applied?
