About sound filter (compressor)

What is your operating system? Windows 11

**What is your Shotcut version (see Help > About Shotcut
23.06.14
Can you repeat the problem? If so, what are the steps?
It’s permanent, the compressor audio filter seems to be an expander, in fact, and is exacly the same as the expander filter. The main setting, which is the ratio, can be set as 1:xx, for example 1:4, which means expansion, and not something like xx:1, for example 4:1 which means compression.
(Please be specific and use the names as seen in Shotcut, preferably English. Include a screenshot or screen recording if you can. Also, you can attach logs from either View > Application Log or right-click a job and choose View Log.)
You can reproduce this easily. I use the French translation of ShotCut, but I do not think tha it can change anything.
Best regards.

Yes, the ratio is set to 1:x, but I assume that 1:4, for example, does not cause expansion but compression.
I have tried it out. You can check it yourself, use an even tone and hear for yourself that a high value makes the sound quieter.

You seem to be right. The problem was in the settings of the filter; By reproducing the settings I got with Audacity (easier because it displays a graphic representation of teh result), I got the same results as Adacity.
thanks a lot.
