.3GP Video not playing

Hi and thank you for this forum.

After many attempts to open up a .3GP laptop recorded video file into Shot Cut. and after trying to convert the file to an .MP4 file, neither will play. Would like to ask if I need to use AVC to convert the file into something else? I am very new to Shot Cut but have heard great things about it. I have watched most all of your videos but without anything playing I can’t practice the little that I’ve learned. (-:

Why did you install a older version?

How/what did you use to convert the file to an MP4?
