Hello,
When i try to save my project, an error message says it is impossible to save in xml format, the file is unfounding.
It’s very annoying.
I tried to reinstall shotcut but nothing changed.
Do you have the solution for i can save or export my project ?
Thank you

I’m sure it is, but I think you need to give us a little more information.

To be clear about what you are doing, are you trying;

File>Save (or Ctrl+S) Save name.mlt
and/or
File>Export Video

??

We have no idea what you are talking about, and you provide no information, no steps on how to reproduce the problem.

Yes, that is right.
When i try to save and name the file in my computer, i have an error message saying it is impossible to find the file, but i don’t understand why because i just want to save the file and not to open it.

Capture

This is the message i have when i try to save my file (sorry it is a french version)

I’ve had that happen many times.

I think it may have something to do with some Windows 10 permissions,
or something like that.

For me on this Windows 10 the solution was:

(Note that I only have to do this if I’m trying to work with a drive for which
Controlled Folder Access is turned on.)

(Edit: if Controlled Folder Access is the problem, sometimes, when offline,
I may turn it OFF temporarily.)

Windows settings (usually Win + I to open that)>
Windows Defender>
Open Windows Defender Security Center>
Virus and Threat Protection>
Virus and Threat Protection Settings>
Controlled Folder Access>
and if that’s set to ON, then “Allow an app through Controlled Folder Access”>
Add An Allowed App>
Then navigate to Shotcut.exe.

In my case I allow all the exe in the folder:
C:\Program Files\Shotcut
having to select the exe one at a time. (but it goes pretty quickly)

“C:\Program Files\Shotcut\ffmpeg.exe”
“C:\Program Files\Shotcut\ffplay.exe”
“C:\Program Files\Shotcut\ffprobe.exe”
“C:\Program Files\Shotcut\melt.exe”
“C:\Program Files\Shotcut\qmelt.exe”
“C:\Program Files\Shotcut\shotcut.exe”

Then I stopped getting the error message.

Another thing I might try is right click Shotcut.exe
(here at C:\Program Files\Shotcut):

-Properties>
-Compatibility
-Run this program as an administrator (check box)
-click Okay

I know it can be frustrating to get those error messages.
Maybe that will help.

Translation on @Audrey_F’s post after it shows the file name:
“File not found.
Check the file name and try again.”

Found this on Microsoft’s website. Yipee for Windows 10 Updates by forcing us to have this and we must scramble to fix our computers.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-files/file-not-found-check-the-file-name-and-try-again/0734e837-b9f7-485e-93c5-5592f804b4c8

According to this, adjust this one setting to be able to access your files again. Mine was turned off by default.

I can confirm that this is a message that comes from the standard Windows flle dialog and it is not a message in the Shotcut code. This coincides well with the Windows 10 information provided above.
